Khalid our first born son was killed when he was only 37. His murder was racially motivated. Khalid was a peace loving musician; he always expressed his feelings about equality and peace, on one of his music tape cover he said “we are equal different shades or colours should no longer matter. Love and hate can never be friends. One God. Peace love and unity”. Khalid managed to cross so many boundaries with his musical talent that it is hard to put limits on the contributions he made. Khalid had a special quality of being able to transcend the boundaries. On his funeral gathering a wide range of multi faiths and colours was more like meeting of the United Nations. What a wonderful “goodbye” from our son who died so tragically. Khalid, legacy is to demonstrate that we all could live peacefully and respectfully together, irrespective of our colour and creed. The family chain is broken, but the memories of Khalid will live forever. There is not a single day when Khalid one way or the other is not present with us. May God give him a place in Paradise.
